Why are directly connected to Fast Ethernet speeds of up to less than 100M it ?

Suman before , I feel as broadband slowly. Now , after contacts with the hardware , even when some hardware debugging such DM9000 are 100M card . But why , when directly connected , but also reach 100M speed it ? I'm surprised this issue , more so on the computer , the only thing about 10M LAN pass . Who is holding the card speed? ? ?

100M, is 100M bits ( bits ) , not 100M bytes ( bytes, one byte = 8bits), we usually say how much is the byte size of the file to make the unit , 100M bits / 8 = 12.5M bytes, this is theoretical , in reality, but also by a variety of other factors
